The Bridge Adult Day Center
A New Resource for Dementia Care in NWLA
The Bridge Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center is excited to launch The Bridge Adult Day Center, a pilot program designed to offer vital respite for caregivers while providing individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias with engaging social opportunities.
Located at the Highland Center
520 Olive Street, Shreveport, LA
9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
The Adult Day Center will offer a safe, supportive environment where trained staff and volunteers welcome participants for a day of carefully planned activities aimed at promoting cognitive stimulation and social interaction. Each session is designed to be both meaningful and enjoyable, fostering a sense of purpose and engagement among participants.
Cost & Application Process
Participation in The Bridge Adult Day Center is currently available at no cost to families, thanks to a generous grant from the Alzheimer’s Association Center for Dementia Respite Innovation (CDRI).
To ensure the highest standard of care and appropriate placement, all participants and their caregivers must complete an application and interview process. This allows us to assess each individual’s needs and ensure they receive the best possible support.

Why Respite Care Matters
The benefits of respite care extend to both caregivers and individuals with dementia. Studies show that structured day programs can help reduce behavioral symptoms, enhance mood, and promote a higher quality of life for individuals with dementia. Meanwhile, caregivers gain a much-needed break from their responsibilities, reducing stress and preventing burnout, which ultimately helps sustain their ability to provide care over the long term.
Filling a Gap in the Community
As the first dementia-focused respite care facility in Northwest Louisiana, this program fills a critical gap in the community. “Caring for a loved one with dementia can be physically and emotionally exhausting,” said Laura Gauthier, Assistant Executive Director of The Bridge Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center. “Our goal is to provide caregivers with the time they need to rest and recharge, while ensuring their loved ones have a meaningful and enriching experience.”
